We like to remember Gump Worsley as the symbol of Minnesota North Star goaltending. But really, Gump was in the twilight of his career when with the Stars. He was actually talked out of retirement to join the team and support younger goaltender Cesare Maniago. With Maniago doing the lion’s share of goaltending, the duo helped the Stars have a few good seasons in the early seventies….
Maniago played for the North Stars from 1967 to 1976, then finished his career in Vancouver with the Canucks.
